Corporate Activities

One of the most crucial factors in achieving a truly successful event is providing your team with an “out of the office” environment and all together doing something fun. This is when some of the best trust building, communication, and collaborations take shape. All activities offered to our corporate groups promote stress relief, team building, trust and leadership.

Sporting Clays

Sporting Clays is one of the fastest growing interactive sports in the country, for both men and women. The fun and excitement of the sport is found in the many varied clay target presentations thrown to simulate real life shooting challenges like driven pheasants, springing teal, ruffed grouse, woodcock, quail, & rabbits. Shooting is limited to five people in one group. Groups larger than five will be split into smaller groups. Our new sporting clays course features 12 automatic stations set amidst the hillside among old hemlocks, open hardwood forests and ancient apple orchards; creating scenery that must be seen to be appreciated. John Higgins, of the British School of Shooting, designed this truly amazing course. He kept one thing in mind while planning our course, “to provide an excellent setting for team building, leadership, and learning.” With this in mind, it is easy to understand why almost all of our corporate clientèle have included our sporting clays range in virtually every meeting that we have hosted. This gives your team an opportunity to experience a truly unique outdoor activity that allows them to bond with their fellow employees.

Corporate programs are our specialty. Our unusual environment and team participation in clay sports promotes collaboration and solid team-building skills. This is a fast paced, instant-result sport that challenges the major elements of successful teams--communication, coordination and cooperation. "Friendly" company shooting tournaments are a great way to bring out a competitive spirit while providing enjoyable conversation and fellowship. Various scoring systems are available, so each shooter will feel good about participating--regardless of his or her experience.

Dinner with Odin Rathnam

Since his critically acclaimed Lincoln Center debut in 1993, the American violinist Odin Rathnam has established himself as one of the most versatile artists of his generation. Praised by critics for his “captivating temperament,” “brilliant technique” and “innate musicianship,” he has performed at major European and American festivals including the Algarve International Music Festival in Portugal, Denmark’s Vendsyssel Festival, Deia International Festival in Mallorca, Aspen and Caramoor. While eating dinner with at the River Run Restaurant, Odin will play a variety of classical and modern pieces during each course of dinner. This has proved to be a truly moving experience for all who have chosen to let Odin captivate their minds with the amazing sounds of his 250 year-old fiddle. While not spending time on the Delaware River, Odin spends a majority of his time as the Concert Master for the Harrisburg Symphony where he thrills thousands of people each year with his amazing musical skills.

Murder Mystery Dinner

While eating dinner at the River Run Restaurant your group you will be consulting with Detective Chief Inspector Dwight Kemper to see if you can solve the perfect crime!! Detective Chief Inspector Kemper, a master sleuth with jolly good, dry, acerbic British wit, will host your murder mystery dinner. Detective Kemper is played by Dwight Kemper, an accomplished character actor with 12 years stage experience including an engagement at Carnegie Hall, City in Anna Pavlova, six years on stage as Herr Drosselmeyer in The Nutcracker, Doctor Copellius in Copellia, and Catalle Butte in Sleeping Beauty. As Producer for The Repertory 2 Theater Company, Mr. Kemper presents original plays including “An Evening With Poe” and “A Christmas Carol”.

Culinary Challenges

Our culinary cooking challenges have been a real hit over the past few years. Cooking in a new environment is a great way for people to learn to interact together as a team. During this activity the group has to collaborate in order to properly prepare the meals and expedite them to the table. Some challenges that are offered are; the team is given a basket of ingredients, with no recipes. The goal is to see what the team can produce with no guidance. This is a great way for team members to bond and have a really fun evening. Another option is, giving the group a set recipe and see what they can do. This makes all members work together while following direction and having fun. This activity can also be incorporated with “Dinner with Odin Rathnam”

Golfing

The West Branch Resort has made strategic alliances with two local PGA golf courses in our area. These courses are the nicest in the region and are will impress the most meticulous golfer. We offer a limousine service that will escort your group from the resort to either of the two golf courses and back, all while riding in luxury and style.

Nature Walks

Our resort is nestled between the West Branch of the Delaware River and The Pennsylvania Gamelands, which covers over 3600 acres of mountain woodlands and nature trails. We will shuttle your group to the entrance of the Gamelands where your guided West Branch Resort nature walk will begin. The walk will eventually end here at the resort. Varying on time of year, groups can explore pristine mountain ponds... meadows sparkling with wildflowers...the majesty of old-growth trees...the caress of emerald-green moss...or the classic symphony of a waterfall. They can stand on top of the catskills, surrounded by floating mist, looking into an endless sea of mountains.

While taking your group on a guided nature walk, they’ll learn about the natural and human history of the Catskills in a fun and delightful way. They’ll hear Lenape-Delaware Indian lore and maybe a French & Indian War story. They can learn about the indigenous trees and shrubs seeing the differences between Deciduous, Conifer, and Broadleaved trees and more. The group will find out what the Native Americans and Settlers did for food and medicine before the there were grocery stores and pharmacies. They might even sample a tasty mountain treat during our specially prepared lunch. Every guided walk is geared towards enjoying the journey at a pleasant pace, using all of ones senses to explore nature in a new way. All of our guided nature walks can be tailored to fit your group’s needs for both time and features.

Outdoor Laser Tag

If your company desired a unique setting for an “out of the office” experience where employees can enjoy a shared entertainment event to recover from burnout, stress, end-of-project exhaustion or to celebrate accomplishments laser tag will surly be a hit. Playing laser tag with co-workers incorporates the basic principles of team work & game strategy, allowing employees to enhance communication, develop rapport, sharpen the competitive edge or define leadership skills while having a great time. If your company wants to reinforce effective communication, enhance leadership qualities, or increase interaction within its departments, this activity will defiantly be the talk of your team for weeks to follow.

Bonfire in The Woods

We’ll start a good warming nighttime bonfire (size appropriate to your group) located on our property that is discreetly hidden away from any other activities. Your group will walk to the site via a tiki torch lit trail, where they’ll indulge in toasted treats from the fire and have drinks served from our tiki bar. They’ll enjoy fireside music and hear some fun night time tales of local lore and may even imagine seeing an apparition or two from a long past era.

Most importantly they’ll spend excellent quality time being together in an environment perfectly made for good camaraderie and the best in team building spirit. There is nothing more relaxing or congenial than a group of friends watching the sparks of a moonlight bonfire shoot upwards into a star lit sky, in particular after an active day. Give your group this satisfying good time while they are at the West Branch Resort.

Shooting Preserve

Starting September 1st, the West Branch Resort will host guided pheasant and chukar partridge hunts that will excite any hunter. While hunting on our preserve you will experience the thrill of having a fully trained pointing dog working his hardest to find potential targets for you. The lots we are hunting are adjacent to the West Branch of the Delaware and consist of small plots of woods, rows of corn, and heavy concentrations of sorghum. This provides excellent cover for birds and challenging, yet fun shots for all the members in your party. At the end of your hunt, our fully trained guides will field dress your birds and prepare them for your transportation home. Or if you decide to stay with us, they can provide excellent recipes for a BBQ that evening. This will surly be an event that you and your friends will enjoy and remember forever.
