West Branch Angler Hosts "Come Hell or High Water" a Fly Fishing Expo and Film Festival
Hancock, NY, 4/16— "Come Hell or High Water" is an annual fly fishing festival and film tour to be hosted at West Branch Angler. The idea is to bring new people into the sport, celebrate the Catskills, the beginning of spring and a new fly fishing season. We have been working closely with the major fly fishing manufacturers and local business's to bring something for everyone. The expo is free to the public and an event you won’t want to miss.
Learn to Fly Fish for Free Orvis 101 and 201 Classes: This is an amazing program puty on by the Orvis company learn to fly fish with a professional instructor completely free. If you have done the 101 class you can also check out the 201 class which gives you more advanced tools and fishing techniques.
The Fly Fishing Film Tour: In just it's fifth year, The Fly Fishing Film Tour has become the fishing entertainment event of the year and will showcase some of the best independent outdoor film makers. The goal of the Fly Fishing Film Tour is to energize the industry and inspire film makers to create new cutting edge films to both entertain and educate outdoor enthusiasts. All ticket sales and silent auction proceeds will go to benefit NY Trout Unlimited's Trout Water Youth Camp
Weamer’s Truform Mayflies: Paul Weamer will be putting on a terrific PowerPoint presentation where he will explain and demonstrate the use of his Truform Hook design. He will also go over tying a few of his favorite patterns.
Free Hardy Reel Maintenance: John Shaner of Hardy USA and resident Hardy expert will be set up at the fly shop with a work-bench where he can clean and lubricate reels as well as answer any questions regarding the history of Hardy products.
Fly Fishing Patagonia: John Miller was lucky enough to spend a month in Patagonia this winter. His presentation will chronicle his amazing trip, through the Aisen Region, Chilean Patagonia the watersheds of the Rio Picacho and Rio Manihuales, plus other various Lago's and Lagunas surrounding Coihaique, Chile.
Loren Williams Presents "Nymph Tricks: We have all encountered types of water, levels of angling pressure, or weather conditions that prohibit the effective use of our favored nymph fishing tactics. In this presentation I will explain what I feel to be fly-fishing's contemporary nymph fishing techniques, theorize why I feel it's beneficial for anglers to look beyond them, and introduce several "nymph tricks" .
